Role Description

Our Students’ Union Volunteering Team are key to making sure students feel settled into their life at university, make friends and find out about the opportunities and support available to them.

  • We’re looking for students from all backgrounds to represent your Union.
  • University and Students’ Union activities are slightly different this year and all our events and activities are currently being held online.
  • These new challenges mean that having our friendly, welcoming Volunteer Team has never been more important. As part of the team, you will have the chance to make a genuine, positive impact on the lives of other students.

As a Student Buddy, you will support students through the delivery of our Ask a Student service. This service is delivered through the Students’ Union website and enables students to access information and peer support to help them during their time at university: https://www.uwsunion.org.uk/whatson/studentbuddies/

Responsibilities include:

  • Being a friendly, welcoming face for students
  • Responding to student enquiries and requests for support
  • Helping students understand what support services are available and how they can access them
  • Helping students get involved in activities which enable them to socialise and improve their university experience (eg. societies and volunteering roles)
  • We may ask from time to time if you would like to be involved in other opportunities that arise to share your experiences as a UWS Student
  • Having fun!

You will be invited to attend an online induction where we will make sure you are confident and happy with what you will be doing in your role. The induction session will also provide you with all of the signposting information that is relevant to the role.
