Role Description

Our Students’ Union Volunteering Team are key to making sure students feel settled into their life at university, make friends and find out about the opportunities and support available to them.

 

  • We’re looking for students from all backgrounds to represent your Union.
  • University and Students’ Union activities are slightly different this year and all our events and activities are currently being held online.
  • These new challenges mean that having our friendly, welcoming Volunteer Team has never been more important. As part of the team, you will have the chance to make a genuine, positive impact on the lives of other students.

 

As a Social Media Content Creator, you will support the creation of multimedia content which represents students’ experience at UWS and supports student groups and societies.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Planning and delivery of a Student Social Media Takeover, which will document the on and off campus student experience this year
  • Work with the elected Student Officers to engage with students and generate feedback on their student experience and any issues they may face
  • Creating social media content which provides important guidance and support for students
  • Developing engaging social media content to support students societies events and activities
  • Having fun!

 

You will be invited to attend an online induction where we will make sure you are confident and happy with what you will be doing in your role.

The UWS Student Union is the Representative body for all UWS Students.

Skills/Experience Required

  • An understanding of social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, and confidence in using them

 

You will also need to be:

 

  • Friendly and welcoming
  • Approachable
  • Understanding of students’ needs and challenges
  • Enthusiastic when speaking to students about our activities and opportunities
  • Eager to work as part of a team

 

Requirements for starting the role

  • To be part of the team you need to be a current UWS student
  • To prepare you for your role, you will be provided a volunteer induction
  • Inductions will be delivered online, as a Zoom meeting
