Accessibility to Education UWS

About us

Accessibility to Education UWS is designed for students to come together to discuss, campaign and work towards making the education at our university fully accessible to all. This includes improving the disability services, mental health services, care provisions and support for anyone who may need them. We want every student to have equal opportunities whilst studying at UWS, so that no one is disadvantaged with their learning no matter their circumstances.

We are currently working on a few projects such as;

  • Introducing the Sunflower Lanyard scheme for people with hidden disabilities, or anyone who may need support, at the Hub and the Student Union bar.
  • Creating a mental health focus group to hear from the students themselves what they wish to get from the mental health services at UWS.
  • Introducing sliding doors on all the disabled toilets, so that they are fully accessible to wheelchair users, as opposed to the current push/pull door system.

If any of this interests you, feel free to join the society, check us out on social media or contact us via our society email.
