You told us you wanted student representation that’s easier to understand and easier to join. More than 1,700 students voted on the proposed changes, with 93% backing them. Now we’re putting them into action.

Three new roles. One chance to lead your faculty.

This October, students will elect a part-time Vice-President for each of UWS’s three faculties:

• Creative Arts, Business and Social Sciences (CABSS)
• Health, Education and Social Care (HESC)
• Computing, Science and Engineering (CSE)

Faculty Vice-Presidents will listen to students across their faculty, raise their priorities with the University and your Union, and help turn their ideas into action. The roles are paid, at 15 hours a week, so you can lead while continuing your studies.

Think you could represent your faculty? Find out how to stand. Nominations close at 3pm on Friday 9 October. Voting runs from 20 to 22 October.

Find your community. Make change together.

New Student Networks will bring together students who share an identity, experience or interest. They’ll be places to meet others, talk about what matters to you and work together on ideas for change.

Networks are being introduced for Women students, LGBTQ+ students, Disabled students, Black and Ethnic Minority students, International students, students in London, and students interested in sustainability.

Each Network will have a Student Network Representative. They’ll listen to members, help the Network organise its activities and bring its priorities to the Union’s Executive Committee. Representatives will be appointed by a panel of students from the relevant community.

You can join a Network and have your say without taking on a representative role.

Your voice goes beyond elections

Course Reps will keep speaking up for students on their courses. Our President and Vice-President for Education will represent students across UWS.

You’ll also be able to raise issues at Faculty and Campus Forums, share ideas through student suggestions and help decide what your Union stands for at the annual Student Members’ Meeting.

You don’t need a title to make a difference. Stand for a role, vote, join a Network or forum, or tell us what needs to change. However you take part, this is your Union.
