ROLE DESCRIPTION

Sir William Burrell left a lasting legacy by donating over 9,000 objects to the people of Glasgow. The Burrell Collection reopened after an extensive redisplay in March 2022 and we are recruiting friendly volunteers to join our Volunteer Guide group to deliver tours in Gaelic.

As part of the MOD in Glasgow, we are delighted to offer Gaelic tours of The Burrell Collection in the week preceeding the event. Volunteer Collections Guides take visitors on free, guided tours around the Burrell Collection, helping bring the museum objects to life, and talking about the family who donated the collections.

Free guided tours will be advertised on the first week of October 2026 at The Burrell Collection.
Are you someone who:

  •  is a fluent Gaelic speaker
  •  is comfortable speaking to groups
  •  loves history and art

Register your interest today by adding your relevant skills and experience and why you would be great as a Volunteer Collections Guide.

Tours will be delivered in late September and October 2026, with an option to continue
thereafter.

Come and celebrate the Gaelic language in our wonderful museum!
