If you are currently a UWS Student you are automatically a member of the Students' Union - it's free!

If you're not a student at UWS or you want to find out more about what each membership involves, read on!

Please note, that no one can hold more than one type of SU membership at any one time and all memberships are subject to the individual's continued compliance with the Union's policies and code of conduct. If you have any questions please email uwsunion@uws.ac.uk.

Opting out of Membership

Students are given the option to opt out of membership of the SU during enrolment. If you do not opt out you are automatically considered a member.

What happens if I opt out?

Before you opt out, you should check over the membership benefits listed above.

If you opt out of the Student Union, some of your privilages within the Union will change:

  • You will no longer be able to vote in our elections, referenda or take part in our democratic events.
  • You can no longer bring guests to our events.
  • You may have to pay to be a member of our societies.

If you opt out you still can:

  • Attend our events
  • Enter the Union spaces
  • Seek assistance from your class rep
  • Seek assistance from the Advice Service

If you wish to opt out of the Union, please email hub@uws.ac.uk with your name, banner ID and let them know that you wish to opt out.

Opting back in

You can opt back into SU membership provided that your membership was not removed due to a disciplinary process. You can do so by emailing Hub@uws.ac.uk with your name, banner ID and let them know that you wish to opt back in.
