Student Societies

Student societies are student-led groups, formed and run by students, which bring together people who have a shared interest or identity.

Student Representation

Student Representation covers all of the ways in which students have a voice in the way UWS is run. The Rep System is jointly managed by UWS and the Student Union.  To support UWS collueages to engage with the representation system, we have 2 key documents relevent to staff:

  • The Rep Roadmap - This document provides practical guidance and agreement defining the roles of all partners in Student Representation at UWS.
  • Staff Guidance for Representation - This document provides detailed guidance and instructions for electing and reporting your reps, it also provides an overview of the UWS Representation Structure.

Both documents are being updated for Academic Session 2026-27.

We have also created an interactive training module for staff to support partnership and enagement activities, you can access this training by clicking here
