Hello! My name is Daniel, I will be running as one of your Student reps for the Chemistry with Education course at UWS.
This is actually my second attempt at university, as I dropped out after one year of Mental Health nursing after having a formal diagnosis of a severe form of Dyslexia (So please don't judge me too harshly on my writing abilities).  There was a simple reason I chose nursing, and then chemistry teaching, and that is I just want to help people. That philosophy is why I would want to be your representative!

I have previously volunteered with organisations like the Duke of Edinburgh, LGBT Pride (@Dumfries) and the Church of Scotland where I was tasked to facilitate and support programs, aid the work of my peers, and most importantly help me grow as a person. During my gap from Education, I worked (and still do) as an optical consultant. Within the short 2 years of working within this role, I have supported and even run clinics within Annan, Dumfries, Stirling, Livingston and Glasgow. I have shown that I can work with, and on behalf of a team.

I have also attended a number of private lectures by Dyslexia Scotland to further understand how I can help myself, but most importantly others with this disability. The extra material given had also built upon my time volunteering with Annan ARC, a centre supporting adults with severe learning disabilities.

Basically, what I am trying to say is that I just want to aid in any way I can. I am thankful for all the opportunities I have been present so far and am looking for chance to prove myself once more.

Thank you.
