STUDENTS! UNITE! - Unite against student poverty & unite to support our mental health.

Hey everyone,

I'm Sean Young, a Year 4 student studying commercial music production. Throughout my time as a student not just at UWS, but during my time at college I have seen first hand the effects as well as impact of student poverty and mental health on students.

I have seen attendance drop with motivation and furthermore, stress, depression and apathy rise due to issues outside the control of students.

I am very politically active and have solidarity with many causes, Ive even been involved in organising and participating in food bank collections and march's as part of my political activism.

If you vote for me it will be my ultimate goal to listen to your every issue! I am determined to bring a sense of community to the student experience as well as bring about eradicating the loneliness felt by so many due to Covid-19. No question or issue brought to me by any student will be too small.

Here is some of what I am going to do for you?

  • Maintain and progress the achievements of my predecessors.
  • Equal opportunities for all students.
  • Push for more post-graduate employment/volunteering opportunities to reduce anxiety of finding a career after uni.
  • Push for more student fuctions to increase sociability.
  • Guide students in getting extra funding to meet transport/living needs.
  • Help students by organising a functional car sharing scheme/rota to reduce transport costs.
  • Provision of budgeting advice resources.
  • Listen to all student ideas to improve the student experience including reducing assessment stress! (all issues brought to me will be put to the university governing body during meetings to ensure your voice is heard).
