Hi, I am Akhil, an MBA student in UWS London campus. I belong to cohort 17. I would like to be your next vice president of welfare and wellbeing.

My thoughts are

Housing

As I am an international student, I know the problems of getting affordable rooms when students came to London for education. UWS is providing information about the student rooms in the website but those were filled or expensive. Some of my friends had a problem with the rooms in the initial stages.

So, what I want to do is …

• before students coming to Campus, I want to give the data about the rooms from all zones with rents.
• Also provide the contact information, so that they can book the rooms before they come here.
• It’s like Airbnb, but only for the students of UWS ;).

Student common room

Last year when London campus students talk to the paisley officials, they ensured us about the student room with new vendor machine and a ping pong table. But it’s getting delayed. 

I try to make sure about the issues we are facing and try to resolve them...

For London campus, I try to organise freshers party in campus.

Sport for all

Sports play a key role in mental and physical health. To improve the mental strength, I like to add yoga and meditation, that resolves all the mental problems. Try to add Games in the curriculum so that students will interact with others and improve student relations.

Also conduct regular events like musical concerts, dance nights.

Computer lab

All the computers in lab are very slow, some time it takes ages to open. I try to get some new computers or modify the existing. i also try to get more hour access to our campus library and computer lab. For group assignments it will be very helpful for students.

Creating Opportunities

Will try to connect the students with the companies for campus placements and internships. Try to connect students with the alumni for more career aspects. Also conduct meetings with the delegates of respective fields for more knowledge

UWS is trying to make our student experience brighter. This is our chance to participate and make it success. I have visited ayr and paisley campus of UWS. They were extraordinary. UWS will also invest on student ideas. It’s like mini dungeons and dragons for students.
