The Sustainability Society brought its Drug Addiction Awareness Campaign to Glasgow Kelvin College's Springburn campus. Students engaged in meaningful conversations and handprinting activities, choosing colors and writing messages of hope. With support from partners PIPS and Fast Forward, the campaign created a safe space to challenge stigma. Young people showed they're ready to join the movement and break the cycle. Glasgow Kelvin College is excited to continue collaborating on this vital work.
About the Campaign
Our Drug Addiction Awareness Campaign at Glasgow Kelvin College's Springburn campus was our third collaborative event with the college, and it proved to be our most impactful yet. The atmosphere was incredible; students weren't just passing by, they were genuinely engaged and willing to have real conversations about addiction and stigma.
What Happened
The day included interactive handprinting activities where students selected their own colors and wrote personal messages of support and hope. These handprints became powerful symbols of solidarity in breaking down the stigma around addiction. Beyond the activities, what made this event special were the honest, meaningful discussions that took place. Students opened up about their perspectives, shared their concerns, and asked questions that showed how much they care about these issues.
Our Partners
We were supported by PIPS and Fast Forward, organizations dedicated to addiction awareness and support services. Their expertise and resources helped us provide accurate information and connect students with real support options.
The Impact
What really stood out was the readiness of young people to challenge stigma and be part of the solution. They're ready to talk, ready to break the cycle, and ready to join the movement. The conversations were insightful and showed us exactly why this work matters.
Looking Ahead
Glasgow Kelvin College has expressed strong interest in continuing our collaboration, and we're excited about future opportunities to work together on this vital initiative. This partnership demonstrates the power of student-led conversations in creating supportive campus environments where difficult topics can be discussed openly and without judgment.
