Sarmad Ali Anwar, the President of the Pakistani Students Society, tells us about their most recent event - Cultural Eid Millan Party. We hear a little insight from their members and see some wonderful pictures to pull together that experience.
The Pakistani Students Society held an event, and Gemma caught up with the President of the society, Sarmad Ali Anwar, to find out more about it.

Gemma asked - Would you be able to give me an overview of what your event is about please. What is the significance for the Cultural Eid Millan Party?
Sarmad Ali Anwar responded - The Cultural Eid Millan Party is a celebratory event that brings together students, staff, and community members to mark the end of Ramadan and the joy of Eid. It’s a meaningful occasion that reflects unity, gratitude, and cultural pride.
The event is significant because it provides a space for Pakistani and Muslim students to celebrate an important religious and cultural festival while also sharing it with the wider university community. Through traditional food, music, and cultural displays, we aim to promote inclusivity, foster cross-cultural understanding, and strengthen community bonds on campus.

Everyone we spoke to had great feedback and praise for the event. Here are a special few comments from those who attended:
“The Pakistani Society event was amazing. People need to gather in these events and explore the community, share the experience”.

“It was very amazing and vibrant. I had a discussion with the community. The students, faculty and members are giving very good remarks and feedback. The society is growing fast. I enjoyed meeting the Teachers and the Consulate General of Pakistan”.

“I really enjoyed the event. It represented our culture, and it was nice to relax and relieve stress”.

“The event was fantastic, especially the cultural dance! All the activities were amazing this was the first time I attended that type of event, especially from the Pakistani community and I have been here since 2001. It was totally worth it. 100%.”

A huge thank you to Sarmad Ali for giving us amazing insight and sharing such a meaningful experience. The Pakistani Students Society sounds like a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, network and gain new experiences that feel like home.
