UWS Women is the Intersectional Feminism group at the University of the West of Scotland. We believe that feminism must be inclusive and supportive, and we put on events to raise awareness of issues facing women globally, in Scotland, and at UWS.
If you'd like to work with us, or are interested in joining our group, please feel free to get in touch!
This society is an inclusive safe space for everyone who identifies with the label "woman", including non-binary people who may also identify with that label. We work closely with other liberation groups and Accessibility to Education UWS to ensure we are always as inclusive and accessible as possible.
ROLE: Campaigns Coordinator
COURSE: Social Work
FEMINIST ICONS: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez because she makes no apologies for who she is and makes politics accessible and Michelle Obama who has received so much hate simply for existing but has turned it into positivity, action and compassion.?
WHAT ISSUES ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT?: I believe in equality, equity, diversity and inclusion. I am a disabled mature LGBT+ student and as such have met my share of barriers and boundaries. I believe my lived experience can help remove these for others. If someone tells me that I cant I tell them to watch me.?
