Stewart Patterson - Course: Business & HRM – Dr Silvio Hofmann

Hi all,

I hope we’re all keeping well and enjoying the early days of our course and modules.

I’ve nominated myself as a rep as I really want to be as plugged in to what’s happening with the course, the University, learning materials, academic writing etc as much as possible. In all honesty, my biggest personal concern comes from me being a ‘mature’ student. More specicifically, being out of Education for many years and needing to ;learn how to learn' again! This is exacerbated somewhat by not being able to be on campus and worrying about losing out on maybe given myself the best environment and resources that may been available otherwise.

However, as the days pass I’m beginning to feel less anxious. I’m seeing how UWS and it’s staff have adjusted to the unfortunate COVID situation and its impact on how we learn and how they deliver their class. I’m conscious that we all learn in different ways and at a different pace and I believe that this particular year with it’s unique challenges may arguably be the most difficult year we will ever experience. Therefore, student representation has potentially never been so valuable or important.

I would make myself available to all and would be delighted to take any concerns/thoughts/clarifications necessary back to our programme leaders.
