“Continuity for BA Law Third Years”

I am standing as a Student Rep for Law (BA), third year class

For the past two years, I have represented my fellow students of Law (BA) in the Student Council, ensuring that their interests are represented across the institution, and standing up for what they believe in.

From my time in the Scottish Youth Parliament, I transplanted those skills - and even developed them to a greater extent - into my role as Student Rep. I'd like to hope that I have done a good enough job for all of the hard working, dedicated students in our class, and I would be honoured if I was granted another opportunity to represent them for this coming year.

Of course, as these past 6 months have shown, this role and the duties it entails will not be without its challenges, particularly as we approach a fractious period in our nation's efforts to battle COVID-19. All of us students have essentially been left out in the cold with regards to our position in the most important period of our education. I am sure I'm not alone amongst my fellow candidates that this must carry on no longer.

The Student Council has proven itself in the past as an effective organisation in fighting for change for all UWS students, of all ages and backgrounds. Let us carry on those efforts as a united front, with strong and capable representation and leadership being voted into their respective offices this month, and let us not give up on fighting for our friends and against any injustices they face.
