Manifesto

Hi there, I’m Lauren Kerr and I’m running to be your VP of welfare and wellbeing!

I’m no stranger to the support system of UWS myself. As a disabled ,LGBTQ+ student who has struggled with mental health, I know what it feels like to need help. This first hand experience using the support services at UWS paired with a social care background makes me the perfect fit for helping and supporting students of UWS.

Diverse students, Diverse policies!

UWS has many students from a lot of different backgrounds. From international students, student with children, transgender students and so many more UWS is a wonderfully diverse campus. This is why if elected I will tackle student problems from multiple angles. Pushing forward changes to help ALL types of students.

Support made easy!

As someone who has used the support services at UWS, I know how scary and confusing reaching out can feel. That’s why if elected I hope to simplify support for students. I will do this through simplified support hubs, increased anonymity and more online guides for student resources. Getting help shouldn’t be difficult and I want to make sure it never is!

IT matters, YOU matter!

Sometimes, the smallest of things can have a big impact on our lives. It’s easy for us to minimise our problems and think to ourselves who cares? That’s why if elected, I hope to encourage students to speak out for what they need. If it matters to you, it matters to me and I promise to take all student problems seriously.
