I have a DREAM. Working with you, for YOU! Because together we can bring the change we want to see.

Dear fellow students,

My name is SALOMI MALESIOU, aka SAMI. I come from a lovely city in Greece called Thessaloniki, and I have been living in Scotland for about four years now, with my lovely ginger cat, Kozy.

I am excited to announce my candidacy for the position of Vice President of Education in the upcoming university elections.
With three years of experience at UWS, I am confident that I can make a positive impact on our university community, as I am aware of the issues that students may face.

I am studying EVENTS MANAGEMENT, and I am a 1st-year Course Representative.
I have also studied BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE, which is something I'm really interested in.
As a sociable person, I love communicating with different people and learning about cultures and languages.

I decided to stand for this position because
I really care about our student experience and development,
and my GOAL is to create the best learning experience across all UWS campuses!

Here are some of the priorities I will focus on if elected:

  • Induction: I will work closely with the staff to ensure the induction weeks have a festive tone and are more interactive. The aim is to familiarise the students with the university's environment, systems, and services at an early stage and give them confidence in their educational journey.

  • Digitalization: I will work closely with the staff, Sabbatical Officers, and Course Representatives to ensure that our students make the best use of the online platforms and digital services. I want to achieve the best digital experience for everyone.

  • Student Feedback: As Vice President of Education, I will be a vocal advocate for student feedback. I will work with the faculty to ensure that student feedback is taken into account while making decisions that impact the educational experience.

  • Student Engagement: Increasing student engagement is an essential aspect of improving the educational experience. This could include events, workshops, and other activities that promote social and academic interaction. By prioritizing student engagement, we can create a more inclusive and supportive university environment that benefits all students.

I want to work closely with the students to ensure that their voices are heard. *
I want to work closely with the staff to ensure that we have an ideal educational environment that provides a great learning experience. *

I am committed to ensuring that every student at our university receives a world-class academic experience.
With your support, I am confident that we can make our university a leader in academic excellence.
If elected as your Vice President of Education, I will work collaboratively with the university administration, faculty, and students to achieve our shared goals.

In conclusion, I am committed to making sure that every student has access to a high-quality educational experience.
I believe that I can help achieve that goal.
I humbly request your support and vote for me in the upcoming university elections.
