Making UWS more than just a qualification...

Gemma Murrell - Vice President of Welfare and Wellbeing

Who am I and what does it mean for you and UWS –

I strive for authenticity. I know the struggles many face with balancing home life and studying. As a single mother, I know how important it is to depend on a functional system to ensure food is on the table and deadlines are met.

As a qualified Counsellor, Psychology Student, President of the UWS Rep Society and ESS School officer, I know I am the perfect candidate to reinforce the importance of mental health, wellness and wellbeing in UWS.

My aims and pledge as VP of Welfare and Wellbeing -

• I aim to ensure the most effective strategies are in place to aid a smooth experience on every campus!

• I will update my progress on various social media platforms in plain English, removing as much jargon as possible to remain transparent.

• I will create more family-friendly events. Let's bring our community together! Invite our close friends, our family... Show our youth the possibilities of staying in school and education.

As VP of Welfare and Wellbeing, I pledge to make our university more than just a qualification by bringing back the community to UWS. Help me to remove the isolation brought upon us by COVID and the Cyber Attack. Vote for me as it is time to rise up and take back control.

I will work from the bottom up to find the collective needs of the students. Restructuring the framework where it is needed and doing the best I can with the time I have. I will always remain approachable and dedicate my time as VP of Welfare and Wellbeing to rebuilding the community whilst supporting you on your journey.
