Muhammad Gouhar Habib's Manifesto for UWS President
Hello, fellow students and staff of the University of the West of Scotland.
My name is Muhammad Gouhar Habib, and I am running for the position of UWS Union President.
With over six years of experience in management, education, technology, startups, marketing, and business, I am committed to making our university experience better for everyone involved.
Here is my comprehensive plan to improve our university:
- Education and Better Grading
1) Better Feedback on Assessments: In my experience, the feedback that I have received for some of my assessments has not been detailed enough to allow me to improve my performance in my next assessments. I assure to create a system for a better assessment feedback by implementing mandatory training, aiming for consistency across programs, schools, and campuses.
2) Assessment Discussions with Teaching Staff: I have had a poor
experience in assessments, and i have
not been able to work out why my grade
is as it is. Students should have the
option to discuss marking with their
lecturers so they can understand and
improve, which leads to better grades.
I will create a system of students discussions with lecturers.
- Technology and Management
1) Improving Online Class Experience: Addressing technical issues with online learning platforms and ensuring a user-friendly experience for all students.
2) Maintaining Campus Facilities: Ensuring regular maintenance of campus facilities, including restrooms, to uphold cleanliness and functionality.
3) Optimizing Class Schedules: Advocating for efficient class scheduling to minimize strain on students’ physical and mental well-being. It will Help you with less traveling cost because you will have same day Classes.
- Mental and Physical Health
1) Providing Guidance on University Processes: Implementing regular guidance sessions to educate students on departments roles in university and streamline issue resolution processes.
2) Promoting Society Engagement: Encouraging student participation in university societies through incentives (monetary awards/sponsorships for societies) and monthly events.
3) Addressing Accommodation Issues: Supporting entrepreneurial activities among students to address accommodation challenges on campus.
- Socities, Entrepreneurial Startups and Business
1) Facilitating Accessible Internship Opportunities: Facilitating internships within the university to provide students with valuable expexperience.
2) Collaboration with startUps & Companies: Facilitating field volunteerships outside the university to provide students with valuable experience with strong grip on field skills, which leads to easy job acceptance opportunities.
3) Entrepreneurial Opportunities: Guidance and Opportunities for Students to work on StartUps for Innovation Visa. This will create an opportunity for Students to work on the biggest issues of UK. It will also create more Field based Jobs.
- Listening You & Working for You:
1) Listening to You: Holding weekly online sessions to listen to students' problems and take necessary actions.
With dedication, teamwork, and a clear goal, we can make our University better for everyone. By leading, working together, and staying focused, I aim to bring positive changes that will make a lasting difference in our University.
