VOTE KEHINDE OMOLEYE AWOLAJA FOR VICE PRESIDENT FOR WELFARE AND WELLBEING
My name is Kehinde Omoleye Awolaja, I am currently studying MSc in International Management, I am currently in my final year, and I hope to be your next Vice President for wellbeing and welfare for the 2nd time. I am running for Vice President for Wellbeing and Welfare because I am a strong advocate for the betterment of all student welfare and to support the wellbeing of students studying in the university of west of Scotland.
Why should I be elected?
I strongly believe I can make a change and support students on and off campus. I understand the importance of having stable mental health support around the university, every student’s mental health is as important as completing their students.
I have transferable skills and excellent work ethics and experience which will allow me to represent you. These skills can be seen in my previous role as the Vice President for wellbeing and welfare in 2022/2023, Where I signed the mental health agreement with the university, and Launched the HEY GIRLS project where all female students can get a free sanitary pad and also students being able to reach the hub via WhatsApp chats.
My Action Plan?
- Represent the Students on Matters of Student welfare, wellbeing and Equality and Diversity: Student Mental health is as important as their education. Diversity is a strength. I will Represent all student in all mental health and diversity related issues.
- Improve Wellbeing and Welfare service: As a welfare officer, one of my objectives is to make the welfare service better, To represent the students and make the university see from the students perspective regarding the needs of students when it comes to the wants of students for the welfare services
- Run Campaigns for change: I will run and participate in campaigns that raise awareness of mental health and work to eliminate financial hardship, homelessness and hunger amongst the students body.
- Holding a strong community together: As a student myself, I understand the environment might be boring for international students as they are far from home, in my time in office, I will work closely with the team to ensure all students get to join societies that will increase their social activities around the university.
- Make sure students voices are being heard: I will support in raising awareness for any issues raised by the students, I will do everything I can to help tackle any problems and to direct you to the best support
- Signposting Students: I have noticed that sometimes, the help students need are there but most times, they don’t know how to find it or go about it around the university, if I am elected, I will make sure all students know exactly where to find help as quickly as possible by signposting.
If I am elected, I will be YOUR Vice President for Welfare and Wellbeing and my work will be directed by your voice.
