We Can Do It!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Chijioke Miracle Ezika. I am honoured to present my manifesto as a candidate for the position of Vice President of Student Development. My vision is centred around fostering a thriving and inclusive university experience that not only supports academic growth but also enriches the lives of every student. With a focus on several key areas, I pledge to bring positive changes that will enhance your time at the University of the West of Scotland.

1. Increasing the Number of Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteering is a powerful tool for personal and professional development. If elected, I am going to commit to expanding and diversifying volunteering opportunities for all students. By collaborating with the societies and community partners, we can provide a range of experiences that cater to various interests and skill sets.

Additionally, I will work with school and the union to establish a centralized channel where students can easily access information about available opportunities and receive recognition for their contributions. This channel will serve as a hub for connecting students with meaningful experiences, allowing them to make a positive impact while developing crucial skills for their future endeavours.

2. Bridging the Gap for Post-Graduation Success:

One of my core objectives is to work closely with the University's management to create a comprehensive strategy for enhancing post-graduation employability. This involves collaborating with industry leaders, organizing career development workshops, and facilitating networking events that connect students with potential employers.

I will establish mentorship programs that pair students with professionals in their respective fields, providing valuable insights and guidance. By strengthening the bridge between academia and the workforce. we can empower students to transition seamlessly into their chosen careers with confidence and competence.

3. Cultivating Diversity:

I will champion initiatives to support international students during their time at the UWS. This includes creating dedicated support services, cultural exchange programs, and mentorship networks to ease their transition and enhance their overall well-being.

4. Advocating for Student Parity Across Campuses:

It is essential that every student, regardless of their campus location, receives a consistent and high-quality university experience. I will collaborate with relevant staffs and societies to identify and address disparities in resources, facilities, and opportunities across UWS campuses.

By advocating for fair allocation of resources and implementing campus-wide initiatives, I will strive to create a sense of unity and equality among all students. This involves regular communication channels, feedback mechanisms, and transparency in decision-making processes to ensure that every voice is heard, and every student is equally valued.

In conclusion, my manifesto revolves around creating a university experience that goes beyond the academic realm, focusing on personal and professional growth. Through amplifying volunteering opportunities, enhancing post-graduation employability, cultivating Diversity, and advocating for student parity, I aspire to make tangible and positive changes within our student community. I humbly ask for your support and the opportunity to serve as your Vice President of Student Development. Together, let us embark on a journey of transformation and empowerment.  We can do it!
