Advocating for Students!

Hey, My Fellow Students and UWS!

I am Itoro Udosen, known by many as David (i.e my middle name). Serving as the MSc IT Students' Rep and Computing Division Rep, my passion for education was laid bare and that passion encourages me to aspire for the office of the Vice President of Education. Being a strong advocate for students in education to have a voice, I have observed that students sometimes tend not to have their voices heard, and on the rare occasion that their voices are heard, it does not carry the same weight as other stakeholders, as a result, students lack interest in using their voice to influence decisions about their education. I will work to help students have the information they need to feel empowered to truly infleunce their learning.

I have honed my skills serving as the representative in the IT and Computing Division and understand the student's needs and challenges.

I won't just continue the legacy of the current Vice President of Education; I'll build upon it. Your concerns become my mission. Therefore, my vision is to empower you to achieve anything through quality education and strong support. I believe in:

   •   Equal opportunities, supporting all students to excel in their studies.
   •   Maintaining a vibrant academic society and collaborating with student representatives to assist in students understanding of
        the teaching and learning styles.
   •   Promote academic knowledge alongside skill development.

My commitment is to serve all students equally, fostering a diverse and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and heard.

Here's my plan:

   •   Discuss education and UWS with your voices through a student-led podcast.
   •   Organise sessions for promoting personal learning and effective understanding of classroom activities as well as online
        learning.
   •   I will work to integrate mentorship and workshop programs that build transferable skills employers value.
   •   Advocate for a holistic approach where information on module contents, assessment structure, and deadlines are updated.
   •   Improve the channel of communication between the staff body and the student body.

I believe students should be able to personalise their learning journey, therefore, I will work to ensure student's feedback and concerns are heard at all levels.

Together, we'll push UWS to be globally recognised for excellence in education and students' satisfaction.

Please don't see me as a politician rather as an educational advocate.

Vote Itoro Udosen for Vice President of Education and let's make UWS number one!
