Radical, Reliable and Ready to be your VP Education

My name is Margo MacMillan and like you, I am currently studying at UWS. I believe I am the right candidate to represent you as Vice-President Education.

RADICAL

I am radical because I believe the class-representative system is the foundation of the student movement and improves your experience at University.  I have the experience, skills, motivation and passion that are essential to support you. By voting for me, I guarantee, I will negotiate and renegotiate until your voice is heard and fight for what is right. I will act on your best interests, I always have, and I always will.

As a student, I believe that we are the experts on our own learning experience at UWS, it is really important that we have our experiences heard at different committees within the Students’ Association (SAUWS) and the University.

RELIABLE

I am reliable because I am passionate about student issues, especially your education and have a wealth of experience in the student movement; I have been a Class Representative, Executive Committee member, Mature Students’ Convener and Class Representative Trainer, that’s just here at UWS!

Before attending University, I worked in a Further Education College and provided guidance and employability advice to students – students like you, this role led me to study at Uni. Prior to that I worked with a variety of organisations where I was the Union Rep for many years.  These roles have given me excellent communication, representative and advocacy skills.

READY

I am ready to listen to you – individually, in classes, in class rep training sessions – in fact, at any opportunity I have to listen to your experiences and opinions, I will!  I have already established good working relationships with students and staff at UWS; I can assure you I will keep you updated on what’s going on through meetings and networking sessions at each campus.  If you talk to me about your experiences, I will listen and together, I believe, we can make a difference to our University experiences and Students’ Association.

Thanks for taking the time to read my manifesto, appreciate it.  If you see me around campus and have any questions, just let me know.
