Every student has a voice, let me be the microphone!

Who am I?

I will start by introducing myself, I am a 4th year mechanical engineering student who has passion for problem solving and assisting others. This is my first year as Student Rep at UWS, although I do have experience of being a Student Rep in my previous study through the college system.

During this time, I developed excellent organisational and leadership skills throughout my studies, typically being the group leader in previous groupwork activities – typically performing very well as a group.

Division Rep – Pledge to Students

As Division Rep I feel I would approach the role with a similar strategy to my current Class Rep position, as I am currently very dedicated in my current position ensuring the voices of all the students I represent are heard – and their opinions are given serious considerations.

Although I was only appointed as Student Rep relatively late (halfway through Trimester 1) I feel I have acted in a swift and efficient manner with regards communication/feedback etc. Having participated in discussions with several staff members which have/will have a positive effect on the students I represent (and in some cases other students too).

My intended approach for this role would be to continue communicating with individual students about any matters they feel relevant, but I would now do this across all engineering disciplines. This is something I currently do to an extent as I am a very outgoing person I frequently communicate with many different students across all forms of engineering at UWS.

Further to this I would aim to have frequent discussions with the Student Reps across all engineering programmes and levels, in the hopes that they would also raise any relevant matters with myself.

I feel this tactic of communicating with individual students and Student Reps would be the best tactic to use in this position as it would allow me to gather students’ thoughts at a one-to-one basis, and also a general level from the Student Reps – allowing for me to make informed decisions in the best interest of the students within the engineering department.

I feel I would be the best candidate for this position as I am a very selfless person and enjoy helping others as much as I can. Alongside this I actively enjoy communicating with people from all different backgrounds etc, which I believe this position will allow me to do so.

These points coupled with my determination and motivation to do a fantastic job representing all students within the engineering department makes me the ideal candidate for this position in my opinion.

Thank you for reading and considering my candidacy,
