As a Fundraiser, you will become part of your local fundraising group and help to plan, organise and promote activities and events to raise money for Guide Dogs.


It costs £54,800 to support a single guide dog from birth to retirement and fundraising is our biggest source of income, so without our fundraisers none of the work we do would be possible!


Main responsibilities-

• Attend group meetings

• Assist with street collections

• Help on stalls at local events

• Take Collection Boxes to local businesses

• Keeping track of what we sell on our stalls at events (including the cuddly toys!)

• Count donations


The time required for this role is flexible, dependent on how many fundraising events your group organise. The role will require travel around your local area to fundraising events and group meetings, this would be dependant on where your group decided to organise activities.


Full training will be provided for volunteers. Volunteers will receive an induction to Guide Dogs and initial training for their role as well as ongoing support through their key staff contact.


Guide Dogs volunteers are required to observe Covid protocols while fundraising, including social distancing, wearing a mask and regular hand sanitising. Volunteers can decide where to organise events so they are comfortable, for example only organising outdoor events or having a table in front of them to ensure the public maintain a safe distance.



We are Guide Dogs and we’re here to help people with sight loss live the life they choose. Our ambition is a future where every person with sight loss has the confidence and support they need to live their lives to the full.


We don’t just provide life-changing guide dogs, we also provide advice, skills, emotional and practical support for people and families living with sight loss to help them live actively, independently and well.



Skills in communication and organisation as well as the opportunity to meet new people and learn how to support those with sight loss living in the community. Students can work towards becoming a Fundraising Group Coordinator or setting up their own club/society on campus to support Guide Dogs and raise awareness amongst the student population.

No specific skills or experience required, full training will be giving before commencing the role. Volunteers should be confident speaking to new people to raise awareness of Guide Dogs and our cause. Volunteers should also be confident handling money.



The details of two references who have known the volunteer for two years and do not live at the same address are required to apply for the role. Once initial reference and ID checks are completed, the volunteer will be interviewed for the role to ensure it is a good fit and then they will receive full training as well as a ‘Welcome to Guide Dogs’ event as part of their induction.


PVG and disclosure checks are not required for this role.
