Applications are currently open to students who would like to apply for a place on the Employer Mentoring Programme.
The Mentoring Programme, ran by the Careers and Employability Service, is designed to match students who are in their final years of study with a mentor in industry, in order to bridge the gap between studying and graduate employment. The programme is now entering its third year and has a range of trained mentors from industry, across different disciplines and ranging from micro-organisations and SMEs to large blue chip organisations.
Mentoring has proven to enhance the experience of non-traditional students who can often face more barriers when entering the world of work. The Mentoring Programme creates a confidential and supportive environment to explore a range of questions and issues, such as job application skills, personal confidence or insight into an industry sector.
Students can apply if they are in 3rd or 4th year in any subject on any campus and if they meet one or more of the following criteria:
· Mature (over 25)
· First in their family to go to university
· Have come to university from a college route
The application deadline is 25th October and there will be 30 places available on this year’s programme.
