This volunteer role is similar for both the Family Rights Service and the Destitute Asylum Seeker Service (you will work in one of these only). Our Family Rights Service supports parents and children through every step of their asylum journey Our Destitute Asylum Seeker Service provides practical advice and support for destitute people who have had an asylum claim rejected and have No Recourse to Public Funds You will assist case managers/advisers in supporting and advocating for people going through the asylum process including children. Duties may include:
Scottish Refugee Council is committed to assist and empower refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives in Scotland and settle into the local areas and communities.
Students can gain valuable experience as part the team in of one of SRC’s core services, working in a fast-paced environment delivering advice and advocacy to refugees. They will gain experience of cultural exchange and knowledge of statutory services such as the NHS and local authorities. Volunteers will receive the following training in this role (as a minimum):
