Access to information, advice and advocacy is especially important when people in need of protection are first granted refugee status or reach Scotland from abroad. This role is vital in ensuring new refugees are informed about their new rights and entitlements and how to access and navigate key services. You will get full training and guidance on a range of issues that people may need your assistance with and how to act to address them. Tasks will vary, but will include:
Scottish Refugee Council is committed to assist and empower refugees to rebuild their lives in Scotland and settle into the local areas and communities.
Students can gain valuable experience as part the team in of one of SRC’s core services, working in a fast-paced environment delivering advice and advocacy to refugees. They will gain experience of cultural exchange and of working with statutory services such as social work and local authorities. Volunteers will receive the following training in this role (as a minimum):
