Street Connect: Community Engagement Volunteer

Community Engagement Volunteer at Drop In Cafe: ongoing opportunity

What's the role?

Can you give 3 hours a month on a Saturday night so be a Street Connect Volunteer?

A Community Engagement Volunteer would be helping a wide range of people who are lonely, isolated and or struggling with addictions. You job would be to make the people who visit the café on a Saturday night feel welcome. We serve hot drinks and pre pared sandwiches, but our main purpose is to make people feel cared and valued and so you would be spending time getting to know the folks who visit and being a listening ear.

Who are they?

Street Connect is a Glasgow, faith based charity that has been running for 6 years. It was established by a Ricky and Julie Mc Addock , who had themselves been in serious addiction but came through their struggles with the help from Teen Challenge Rehab Centre .Our aim is to reach people who are sleeping rough, homeless or marginalised and perhaps struggling with addictions. For further information, please look at our web site We have other drop in café’s in Paisley, Greenock, Blackwood, Possil and Clydebank but our main need is Glasgow city centre

What could you gain?

All our volunteers are given Support and Supervision by the team leader. There are regular opportunities for volunteers to attend Street Connect Training and Fun Events. Volunteers would enjoy being part of the Saturday Café team and meet lots of interesting people.
